Description

CHEVROLET SOLID ENG MNTS-SHORT There are two versions of this part. A short style and a long style. They are available for 1958-1972 GM applications like Full Size Chevy, Camaro, Chevelle, Chevy II, Nova and Monte Carlo. Which you need can vary based on engine, year, and chassis. You can check to see which you have by measuring the distance from the base of the mount to the center of the through bolt hole. The long style is approximately 2-1/8 inch, the short 1-11/16 inch. Mr. Gasket Solid Engine Motor Mounts-Short Fits Various 1958-1972 Small & Big Block Chevrolet Engines Mr. Gasket Solid Steel Motor Mounts are recommended only for competition applications. This .180 inch thick, zinc dichromate plated solid mounts do not have the flexing present in rubber or even polyurethane engine mounts. This prevents lateral engine movement or twisting in high horsepower and torque applications. Nor will steel mounts break as easily as stock rubber mounts can. Engine movement in applications like this can cause contact of engine components into places they do not need to be (like headers hitting the frame of the car). Also engine twisting can cause severe drivetrain misalignment affecting shifting or even power transmission to the ground. However, without the insulative effect of rubber, vibration can be substantial and thus solid mounts are not recommended for the street. .180 inch thick solid steel minimizes engine movement Solid steel less prone to breakage than stock rubber mounts Prevent driveline misalignment that can affect accurate shifting and power transmission Prevents engine accessories from coming in contact with frame due to movement Recommended for competition use Sold as a LH/RH pair
